Run By Guides Who Grew Up On This Land
Small groups, honest pacing, and routes that respond to where the animals actually are — not a printed schedule.
Founder-Led, From Dar es Salaam
Nera Safaris was founded by Rashid Mwaja, a lifelong traveler born and raised in Dar es Salaam who has explored nearly every major city in Tanzania — hiking, photographing, and filming the country's landscapes along the way. Rashid saw how larger operators tend to run the same fixed itineraries for every guest: printed months in advance, shared vehicles, guides briefed on a script rather than the land itself.
Nera was built to fix that. Every trip is led by a guide with a home base in the region you're visiting, so what you get isn't a script — it's a local's read on the day.
- Private vehicles only — never shared with strangers
- Government-licensed guides, most bilingual in Swahili and English
- Fair-share partnerships with Maasai and local community camps
- Itineraries adjusted in the field, not fixed on paper
Three Things We Don't Compromise On
Local, Always
Every guide is Tanzanian, licensed, and guiding the region they grew up in — not rotated between parks they don't know.
Private By Default
Your vehicle is yours. We don't fill seats with strangers to cut costs, even on our lower-priced itineraries.
Fair-Share Tourism
We partner directly with Maasai-run and community-owned camps so more of what you spend stays in the region you're visiting.
The Person Behind Your Trip
One founder, one phone number, and a habit of answering every enquiry personally.
