Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Dar es Salaam to Mikumi We collect you after breakfast and take the Morogoro road west, climbing through the Uluguru foothills. You are inside the park gate by early afternoon, which means the first game drive happens on arrival day rather than the day after — the Mkata floodplain is at its best in the last two hours of light.
Day 2
A full day on the floodplain Out at dawn with a packed breakfast. The open grassland here holds buffalo, giraffe, zebra and the resident lion prides, and the hippo pools north of the main circuit are worth the detour. We break in the heat and go out again at four, when everything that has been sleeping under a tree starts moving.
Day 3
Morning drive and the road home A last drive while the air is still cool, then back through the gate and east to Dar. You are home by evening — early enough to fly out the same night if you are connecting.
